The Ohio Internet Exchange (Ohio IX) has deployed a new network switching platform to further increase the value of the Internet Exchange for current and future Ohio IX participants. The Arista 7060 and 7280R switch platforms were chosen because they best meet the Ohio IX objectives to increase the number of available 10Gbps and now 25Gbps ports, augment 100Gbps services, not to mention to remain price competitive in the market, all which serves to increase participation and promote higher traffic levels at the Internet Exchange points operated by Ohio IX.
“We are thrilled to adopt the Arista switching platform at Ohio IX, which will address increasing demand and add greater value to our membership”, said Jason Gintert, Board member and CTO of Ohio IX.
With capacity to now support up to 20Tbps of total throughput in the exchange fabric, it allows nearly 3x the capacity of the previous infrastructure affording much more room for growth. By optimizing our infrastructure with the deployment of the Arista switching platform, Ohio IX is better able to increase the value of the Ohio IX to member participants. This helps achieve the core mission of interconnecting networks throughout the state of Ohio to reduce costs and improve performance for the benefit of the Ohio Internet community and beyond.
