  • Why Ohio IX was createdLocal Peering Point for Large Enterprises, Regional and State=Wide Fiber carriers and Corporate Data Centers.  Off loads expensive internet connections and provides a content distribution point
  • Benefits of Ohio IXReduce latency, reduce cost with better security and network reliability
  • Reviewed cost of membership and history of past years and what membership dollars covers     
  • Acknowledgements Discussion of all volunteer organization and those members that have been instrumental in the success of the group (Board members and committee members)
  • Major IX AccomplishmentsUpgraded Arista Switch platform, procured additional switches, added Apple and Microsoft cache and staying on top of software updates

Peering Etiquette and Peering ManagerDiscusses Do’s and Don’t when peering, Using the IXP Manager and went over the tool

Code of Regulations Updates

  • Update the “Associate Member” class to provide voting rights consistent with Senior members
  • Better clarified a “member in good standing”
  • Allow for a Code of Conduct maintained by the Board of Directors
  • Allow for, improve and clarify Proxies, Electric Participation (including voting) and election groups.  Added removal of director for excessive unexcused absences
  • Clarify member participation by more than one individual (board member, plus others serving on committees)
  • Strengthened membership rights, changes to not only require 2/3rds vote of all membership to include approval by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.

This was voted on electronically prior to the meeting.  Result – Changes were approved by 93.3% approval

  • Board Seat 6 – Rob Shema
  • Board Seat 7 – Josh Rowe
  • Board Seat 1 – Luke Skidmore (two years remaining on term)

Motion was made to accept voting results.  This was seconded and passed

Special thanks to the Ohio IX community and the strong interest we see from members to participate on the board, on committees, and just spreading the word about how the IX can support the region.
